ALBALLUT BIKE ROUTES - OCTOBER 5th 2024

2nd Edition - FUENTE LA LANCHA

#thisisnotarace

A NON-COMPETITIVE BIKEPACKING EVENT, WHERE LEISURE CYCLING IS PROMOTED

Fuente La Lancha was the town that appeared in the draw we did after finishing the 2023 edition, so it will be the starting and ending point of the tour this year. It is one of the smallest towns in the region, and that is why we want to give it visibility and involve its neighbors.

With barely 350 inhabitants, this village has a landscape made up of cereal lands and holm oak pastures dedicated to cattle farming. In the middle of them sits the urban area, in which the Church of Santa Catalina stands out.

¿What is Al-Ballut Bike Routes?

We want to do our bit to make bikepacking and cycle tourism a more social activity, encouraging the union of different people who are attracted to the world of bicycles and cycling trips.

This is how Al-Ballut Bike Routes was born, a meeting of cyclists in the Los Pedroches region.

You will get to know the region of Los Pedroches crossing its pastures and towns in the cycling mode that best suits your style: Road, Gravel or MTB.

  • No timing
  • No podium
  • No time limit
  • Surrounded by other cyclist or on your own

BASIC RULES

1. ABBR is a NON-COMPETITIVE event. What does this mean? Well, there is no timing, no podium, no winners of the test. If you want to ride fast, go ahead, if you want to ride calmly, you’ll have a better time. If your thing is to chat with new friends, have a few beers and put a plate of ham in front of you, this is your place.

2. Choose any of the 3 Al-Ballut routes: Road, Gravel or MTB, and complete them by following the official Al-Ballut track.

3. Seal your passage through the 17 municipalities of Los Pedroches using the Waypoints located in each of them.

4. Take your time. We have hundreds of monuments, livestock farms, wild animals, and one of the best Iberian hams in the world. The inhabitants of each town are delighted with the passage of cyclists, so do not hesitate to stop, ask them, chat with them and get to know them. We assure you that it is the best way to enjoy Al-Ballut.

5. Get the golden acorn sticker . Once you complete the route, having sealed your passage through the 17 Waypoints, we will be waiting for you at the finish line to give you the Golden Acorn, our golden badge that certifies that you have completed Al-Ballut in any of its modalities.

FAQ

Al-Ballut Bike Routes is an event designed for all types of cyclists and fans of bikepacking and cycle tourism, who want to participate in a long-distance route, but without being involved in a competitive environment. Quite the contrary, at Al-Ballut we try to promote cycling without haste, enjoying the environment, the towns and their people.
The event takes place in the self-sufficiency format, so we believe that it is necessary that you are used to picking your brain and shooting long runs. There will be those who want to sleep in hotels, and others will sleep outdoors. You choose.
Al-Ballut Bike Routes is a bike festival. We want all types of cyclists to be able to participate. Obviously, a road cyclist doing the road route can finish in just 10 hours. And it doesn’t matter, if you only have that much time, you can come. But the interesting thing about the event is taking it easy, spending several days, enjoying the company, and getting to know a land that we believe is ideal for bikepacking.

Road 255 km: between 1 and 3 days / Gravel 344 km: between 2 and 4 days / MTB 425 km: between 4 and 7 days.

And if you want to spend more time, don’t even think about it!

The 3 routes run through pleasant terrain, with very gentle slopes. Optionally, we invite you to climb the Santa Eufemia Castle, where Waypoint number 18 is located. A short but tremendously demanding pass, which gives access to a spectacular view of the Dehesa.
Whatever you have! And if you have more than one, the one that best adapts to the route you want to take. The MTB route is also very accessible for gravel bikes.
A quiet way to get to know Los Pedroches and some roads and gravel tracks that are already delighting many cyclists who come to ride in this land. For our part, we hope to make available to all registrants a fun, social, connection and interaction environment for cyclists.
As you pass through each town you can find many options to recharge your batteries. We recommend stopping at the bars and trying the excellent Iberian products of Los Pedroches, including acorn-fed ham, Iberian presa, fried suckling pig, flamenquín… Likewise, you will find small shops and supermarkets where you can restock.
The night before the event we will have a free camping area at the Fuente la Lancha soccer field. If you prefer to sleep in a room, we recommend that you book as soon as possible in the surrounding towns. There are various options in the surrounding towns: Hinojosa del Duque, Alcaracejos or Pozoblanco. For subsequent days, take a look at the Google MyMaps where you can see some hotel establishments to spend the night. If you are going to do a bivouac, remember to choose the place well and leave everything as it was.
The tracks will be the same as the Al-Ballut project, but be careful, when leaving from Fuente La Lancha the start and end point changes. Make sure you have the specifics of the event so you have full control of the route.
No. Due to the limited places and the narrow time frame we have, we cannot refund money for any registration.
If for any reason we cannot carry out Al-Ballut Bike Routes, the registration fee will be fully refunded.
